GIC was established in 1983 and is owned equally by the six GCC governments, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates with issued and paid up capital of $2.1 billion. GIC was established to further investment opportunities in the Gulf region, support regional co-operation and stimulate private enterprise.

GIC’s global markets business is a vital component of their business model. The Global Markets Group focuses on the GIC’s asset management business, both for proprietary investments and third party client accounts, and spread across a range of asset classes.
